Hydrophobic Nano Coating is a durable highly repellent coating which is being developed for deposition onto PV modules and will eliminate the accumulation of surface contamination. Currently, the few commercially available highly repellent coatings lack mechanical & chemical durability, a fundamental barrier to widespread industrial adoption. Solarpel aims to overcome this by building on ground-breaking developments and providing a cost-effective easy clean coating for the PV sector that is a superior alternative to current coatings.

  • Easy Clean & Anti Soiling

 

Easy Clean & Anti Soiling The accumulation of dust, or other debris on the surface of PV modules leads to a significant loss in light reaching the active semiconductor, reducing power output by up to 50%. Research studies have shown that of the 17 types of dust pollutant, 6 types are likely to have a significant impact on the power generation of a solar cell, including sand, dust & ash. Solarpel is a novel advanced easy clean coating which, when applied, eliminates surface contamination, optimising energy efficiency and PV yield.

  •  Anti Reflective & Resistant To High Temperatures 

 

Nano Coating is not only durable & self-cleaning it is anti-reflective, resistant to high temperatures and offers outstanding weather resistance. The anti-reflective properties of nano coating leads to an improvement in transmittance to enable over 93% of all available light to reach the PV semiconductor. The Hydrophobic coating is also stable at high temperatures for extended periods of time.

Nano Coating is an inorganic-organic hybrid coating that is only a few microns thick. Based on a silica (glass) network chemically bound to non-stick organic groups Solarpel readily repels water and water-borne contamination. Rather than wetting the surface, water droplets form beads on the coating and readily roll off at low angles. Solid contamination such as dust and sand cannot bind to Solarpel and so are easily removed by the action of wind or by the use of minimum amounts of water.

  • Maximising PV Efficiency

Environmental weather conditions both globally and locally can have a detrimental impact on the operational efficiency of Solar PV. Solarpel is a transparent non-stick coating which aims to prevent the accumulation of dust and debris thus optimising efficiency and lowering the operation and maintenance costs of PV systems by eliminating the need for cleaning. This will also eliminate the inefficient use of clean water and reduce the risk of cleaning related damage. Application procedure.

  • Application procedure

​

  1.  Clean the surface before application with IPA or other recommended cleaner.

  2.  Take a few drops of nano coating on the applicator .

  3.  Then wipe the applicator on the surface.

  4.  Wait for few minutes.

  5.  The coating will show flashing marks due to the evaporation of the solvent.

  6.  Buff of the excess coating with a microfiber cloth.

  7.  Let it cure for 24 hrs.
